1/32 Alla corte del Faraone (At the Pharaoh's court)

 Hi everyone! 

Today's post is an unusual one, because:

- the title is in Italian (but only the title, sorry for my Italian neighbours)

- the figures are 1/32, and not the usual 1/72... except for one

- the figures are displayed UNPAINTED !!!

But keep cool, there's an explanation to each of these statements...

You all know, or can easily imagine that I am a big fan of Atlantic (an Italian manufacturer) Ancient figures - they are regularly mentioned or shown on this blog - for instance here, or there. Well, after checking the links, I can say that they were mentioned at least in 2017... but look at my avatar :)

Believe it or not, as a kid, I only knew of their 1/72 range. It's only been a few years since I discovered that there were also a 1/32 range, thanks to an incredible collection that Mabo displayed at Benno's, and I began to desire those wonderful Atlanticses, my precious, and looked for some for a looong time... until last week, when I eventually found an offer on a website dedicated to second hand items: a complete original Atlantic 1/32 box, At the Pharaoh's court.

And there you are, in my own hand:

The box was complete, including the mummies and their sarcophagus.

And of course my favorite figure, the scribe. On the picture above, you can see the 1/32 version next to the 1/72 one - this latter looks soooo small.

I was so happy to receive them today that I couldn't help taking pictures and show them on this blog, even before they were painted.

What shall I begin with... ?

Hi everybody, I hope you're all well in these times of pandemic and, unfortunately, sorrow.

Some news at last, regarding figures I mean :)


I didn't paint a single figure since last post, because of several factors: LOTS of work during the first months of the year, then four days of vacation at the beginning of march, then confinement here in France, which gave me some MORE urgent work and many many things to organize and think of. Now that it becomes slightly quieter, I think of painting again.

Yesterday, I used a brush for the first time in days, because I had to put some oily treatment to the wooden table in the garden - useful, but nothing regarding figures :) And this morning, I went to the cellar to have a look at my painting place. So many figs, I don't know where to begin.

I took a picture to show you:

Any piece of advice ? I would need something easy to start with, but everything seems difficult. The sort of moment when you realize that painting 1/72 minis requires a lot of skill and a lot of patience.

All suggestions are warmly welcome.

A small trip in a land of giants - episode I - Jean Höfler figures

Hi! Today, something completely different, and NOT related to 1/72 figures !

Thanks to Beano Boy from Benno' s Figures Forum, I had the opportunity to discover the origin of some of the medieval toy soldiers I played with when I was a child. The toys are 1/30 minis (54 mm high, real giants compared to the 1/72 minis) from a series called "Knights and Castles", manufactured by Jean Hoeffler in the early 80s.

This is my collection:

The lot, as my brother and I painted them in the 80s - enamel colors, very strong !

The foot knights and heavy men-at-arms... yes, I loved to paint blood on the minis at this time

The lighter men-at-arms - the flag didn't survive our fierce battles ! It was a time when the bases were all green :)

What do you think of them ? Did you play with such soldiers ? I think there must be some others minis in this series, but I don't know them.
