... Then moving! Within two months, I will be away. Not very far, less than 5 km from here, but we have a lot of stuff to move, including several thousands of figures, among which at least 2000 are painted. I've not decided yet how I am going to take them away, but I'm sure that the painted figures will be safer if they are stuck together on MDF bases.
So I'm in the process of gluing the figures, starting with the Napoleonic French troops.

This is the first batch of French troops: guard cavalry, light and heavy cav, Neapolitan line, Bavarian line, and one battalion of French line.
More French and British Napoleonics to base, then Ancient and Medieval figures... Wish me luck :)
Any advice from those who have already moved large collections of figures is more than welcome!

SupprimerHi Phil,i remember well painting over 600 Hat figures which were the same as you have in this posting here. Well i have one left because the rest all perished over time and fell to bits! However putting that to one side,i admire how you have painted your figures and how they are presented. Which is certainly top echelon to me. Best Regards BB
RépondreSupprimerHi Paul! Thanks for your comment, but sorry to read that you lost so many broken figures, I didn't realize that they were so fragile. I will think of it before painting more units...
SupprimerOh, my what s great huge project!
RépondreSupprimerHi Michal, thanks for passing by! Yes, the initial project was to paint forces for the battle of Quatre-Bras, but I started units for other periods of the Napoleonic era, and now, I paint a unit when I find the uniform funny (lots of pink, yellow...) :)
SupprimerYou would not want any of those gloriously painted figures to be damaged. I do not envy you the move in the least! All the best with the preparation and the big 'off'.

Hi James, thank you for your comment! The move was OK. When we arrived in our new flat, I discovered that many figure elements were intertwisted, but I had only a few broken figures, and nothing impossible to repare. The figures not glued on MDF bases were individually protected in paper tissues in closed boxes, which had been very long to do but revealed very effective in the end - no damage at all.
SupprimerThat's great to hear. I bet you are pleased that the move is over?
